Begins on Friday with registration 10-12, lunch and a meet and greet, session ends Monday after breakfast.
Site is the Peterkin Camp and Conference Center, just west of Romney, WV. 1,400 acres of forest, clean mountain streams and miles of hiking trails, quiet wooded coves for meditation and inspiration. Lodge has conference room and lounge areas, private and double accommodations all with shared baths. Dining hall and buffet meals, special food needs can be met.
We will be working in teams and independently. Bring an 8” square drawing inspired by the word “FRESH”, your favorite fiber technique’s tools and lots of materials. As the weekend goes by the drawings will develop into fiber art with inspirations and re-actions from the group.

Friday evening, Sally D’Albora will share her bright and creative journey with fibers. On Saturday morning an optional workshop with Susan explore composition for the morning. Independently throughout the weekend we will be working on the theme project… FRESH.
A popular part, everyone comes with something multiplied by the number of participants (a baggie of yarns for each, or???) these will be shared at the beginning and end up in our work in a variety of ways. Sunday morning visit the studio at Ruckman Mill Farm, just 15 miles away and see how Susan and Jim are living in the mountains Another optional workshop is CREATIVE DYEING with Jim Lilly, Sign up early limited to 4 only. Remember the 1,400 acres of forest beckons for nature walks at Peterkin too. Throughout the weekend there will be other discoveries; shopping in Romney, sharing with new and old friends. We look forward to your adding to the fun.
Yes, we will complete at least one piece. After all we don’t have to cook, take anyone somewhere, even answer the phone or watch TV. We will be fed Friday lunch and dinner, three meals again on Saturday and Sunday, and breakfast on Monday to send you off, with snacks and coffee/tea in between. The lights can stay on all night in the workrooms.
All linens are supplied, bring your own toiletries and an extra blanket; the rooms are simple with five rooms sharing three baths in each wing. There are two floors to the lodge; people with special needs will be put on the first floor. If you have specific meal requirements, let us know. Commuters are welcome and will only miss the breakfast meals (and the fun of overnight creating).
Take a few days to find the artist within and connect with others on the same path. Guaranteed to change your way of seeing and doing. Come with trepidations leave with new vision and new friends. Bring some completed work to show . We will go home with a finished project.
RATES: Registration fee $50****. Non-refundable but transferable to 2011 event if cancel by March 1. Due January 15, 2010 to hold space.
