SPRING MEETING

APRIL 10, 2010

Morgantown will be the site of our Spring Meeting. Details on where, what hours and what to expect will be in the Spring issue of the newsletter, but keep the date: Saturday, April 10 open.

Coordinated by Melinda Russell and the Morgantown group, we look forward to sharing ideas, planning and looking at some great fiber art by our members.
Topics to discuss will include: Sponsorship of a juried international show of ORIGINAL HOOKED RUGS.  This would put MSFA on the map in the world of contemporary fiber arts.  Planning would be enormous, exciting, extensive and great for the ego too!

Guest Speaker Sandra Brown of Holbrook, PA is scheduled to guide us through the design steps addressing the challenge for the Morgan County Fair this year “Show 3-D in our 2-D media: Quilts and Hooked Rugs”. Using slides and rugs, Brown will capably illustrate how we can fool the viewer to look deeply into our work.  Using values, textures, shapes, color and repetitive patterning learn how to add dimension to your work.

Visit Sandra’s website  www.rughookingart.com She created the Pittsburgh Rug Hooking Frame too. Bring a fiber friend, quilters too invited.
