2011 ATHA BIENNIAL

Situated in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country, Lancaster County has long been a mecca for people seeking the peace and serenity of an earlier time and a simpler way of life. Known especially for its rural families who have passed down traditional crafts and values for generations, Lancaster is a perfect venue for the 2011 Biennial event sponsored by Region Two of ATHA. We hope you will join us to enhance your skills and techniques with an exciting lineup of top-rated instructors, in a place where you can relax and share your love of the craft with old and new friends.

The tradition continues: an exceptional group of well-known and talented teachers has been assembled to offer a wide-range of workshops for the experienced and beginner rug hooking artisan. No matter what your style, classes will be offered to help you broaden your application of fine or primitive hooking or to enhance your knowledge of state-of-the-art contemporary techniques. Subject to change or cancellation.

It has come to our attention that some of our Biennial Committee members have already been asked if applicants can "pre-register" for 2011 Biennial classes in order to get a specific teacher. In order to be fair to everyone, no early registrations will be accepted. The ATHA newsletter will publish the registration applications with the dates they can be accepted, affording everyone the same chance to apply for the classes. Please follow all instructions for registration as indicated in the ATHA Newsletter for best results.
Anne Stevens, Biennial Registrar
Lancaster County is known for its fine markets, and the Marketplace at the ATHA Biennial will be no exception. We have assembled a great group of vendors from around the country who will meet all your rug hooking needs with a selection of wool, patterns, frames, hooks, books and other rug hooking necessities. In addition many vendors will introduce new items that they have specifically developed for this event. Everything for your next rug hooking project will be waiting for you.
The host city of Lancaster, Pennsylvania offers a wide range of activities to enjoy. There are wonderful art galleries, craft and antique shops and gourmet restaurants to visit. For those who enjoy the outdoors, biking, kayaking, birding, fishing and hiking are available. Tours to explore the rich heritage and history of Lancaster County can also be arranged.
Eden Resorts & Suites. The Biennial Conference will be held at the Best Western Resorts & Suites in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Discounted room rates will be available to ATHA members. Visit their website at www.edenresort.com for more information and a visual tour.
Dear ATHA Chapter Presidents, Interest in the Lancaster Biennial has been so strong that additional rooms have been put aside for us at Eden Resorts. For reservations call 866-801-6430. The reservation extension is Ext.22. In order to obtain the ATHA discount, we need to supply the group reservation number -- 589500. Mentioning that you are "with the rug hooking group" is not sufficient. Some have called without having the group reservation number and have been frustrated in attempting to make room reservations. See page 55 in the August/September issue of the ATHA Newsletter for more information. Please share this information with your guild.
